Easter Seals Crossroads’ Respite Program provides rest and relaxation for family members and primary caregivers of individuals with special needs or disabilities. Respite care enhances personal and family health by providing necessary physical care and recreational activities while offering parents and caregivers a well-deserved break. The Respite Program is designed to serve families in a number of ways.

Parents’ Night Out Parents‘ Night Out is a scheduled event for children with disabilities or special needs. The program provides care for children and their siblings ages 6 months through 12 years. Parents’ Night Out is available at several locations throughout the city. Reservations and registration forms are required. Parents’ Day/Night Out provides:
- A safe, nurturing environment for all children
- Recreational experiences including computer games
- Sensory activities such as coloring, playing with toys, playing games and reading books
- Gross motor activities in a fun, brightly colored indoor play gym and large outdoor playground with adaptive equipment
- Care for siblings
- A staff/adult volunteer to child ratio of 1:3
- Well-qualified and experienced staff
- Themed activities
- Nutritional snacks

ParentCare Services ParentCare is an innovative concept of extending the benefits of services beyond the care of children and affording family members an opportunity to enjoy a recreational or leisure activity. ParentCare may consist of providing the means to enjoy a pleasant dining experience or other entertainment option within the Indianapolis area. CHEER Program Creating Healthy Environments and Enjoying Recreation Individuals ages 18 and older with a disability or special need can enjoy time at scheduled social events while their parent/caregiver can participate in a ParentCare outing. Teen Night Out Easter Seals Crossroads has partnered with Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation to offer Teen Night Out - a respite option for families with individuals ages 13-17 with a disability or special need. Teen Night takes place at The Monon Center - 1235 Central Park Drive East - Carmel, IN. There will be swimming, games, crafts and a snack. Scheduled dates for the start of 2010 include January 29, February 26, March 19 and April 23. Registration is required; download a registration form here. Download a flyer here. One-on-One Respite Care One-on-one respite care is also available for parents/caregivers of individuals with disabilities or special needs. In certain situations, care may be provided in the home or during a respitality outing so that parents or caregivers can benefit from the opportunity to enjoy an evening out. This option is available to families where this unique need is present and justifiable.
