Children's Medical Rehabilitation Services Caring for children is more than our business: It's our mission Easter Seals Crossroads - Indianapolis IN
With a broad array of services, Easter Seals Crossroads is able to meet the special needs of many parents and children in central Indiana. Through physical, occupational and speech-language therapies, our staff of licensed, experienced therapists are able to help children with special needs and their families experience the greatest level of growth and independence possible.
Core Services for Children
Autism Services Easter Seals Crossroads has been providing services that address the needs of those with autism for over 70 years. As the needs of this growing population are more thoroughly defined, we continue to offer programs to meet those needs.
Early Intervention As a First Steps provider of Early Intervention services, Easter Seals Crossroads serves any family with a child aged birth to three years old with a diagnosed disability, a developmental delay or biologically at risk of developmental delay. Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language therapy, as well as developmental therapy, service coordination, medical and psychological consultation, social work and augmentative communication are offered. Family support and education are available to help families become more effective in reaching their child's developmental goals.
Over 3 Services We continue to provide therapy services for children over the age of three who may need services to supplement those they receive through their school system or who don't receive school-based services.
Occupational Therapy Occupational therapy helps children to overcome sensory, motor and perceptual problems that affect their daily lives. Our occupational therapists develop and help parents implement exercises and therapeutic activities such as those related to feeding and self-care. Speciality services provided within occupational therapy include sensory integration therapy, home modifications, adaptive seating/positioning and driver evaluation and training.
Physical Therapy Services Our physical therapists work with children and adolescents to improve movement skills such as rolling, sitting, crawling and walking. In addition, they instruct parents in special exercises and handling techniques for their children. Specialty services provided by our physical therapists include evaluations and equipment recommendations related to mobility and adaptive seating/positioning.
Speech-Language Therapy Speech-language therapy focuses on improving a child's ability to communicate through receptive or expressive language skill development. Our speech-language pathologists evaluate a child's abilities and then develop a plan to promote effective communication.

Life Skills These classes are designed specifically for adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Introductory Life Skills works with young people to develop safety and skills for use in the home and community; Intermediate Life Skills helps adolescents broaden skills for use in the home and community and includes topics such as money management, cooking, use of community resources and more.

Easter Seals Crossroads and Rainbow's END have partnered to offer this exciting summer opportunity. Enrollment is limited to 40 children; each child participates in one 75-minute session per day for 5 consecutive days. Contact us to learn more about Lose the Training Wheels.

P.L.A.Y. Project The P.L.A.Y. Project (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) is designed to provide training for parents and caregivers of autistic children so that playtime can be quality learning time. P.L.A.Y. focuses on the fact that parents and caregivers spend more time with their children than teachers, therapists or doctors do. Trained consultants will teach parents and caregivers how to become their child’s best P.L.A.Y.mate through techniques that are effective, fun and useful in day-to-day interactions with their child with autism. This training is provided in the home where the child feels comfortable thus allowing for greater success.
Respite Program Our Respite Program provides an opportunity for rest and relaxation for family members and primary caregivers of individuals with special needs or disabilities.
Sibshops Sibshops are events designed especially for brothers and sisters of children with special health and developmental needs. Sibshops celebrate the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of children with special needs while providing opportunities for peer support. Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs is sometimes a good thing, sometimes a not-so-good thing, and sometimes in between. Sibshop events are offered for children ages 4 through 7 (Young Sibshops) and for children ages 8 through 13.
Family Fun Days Family Fun Days are available for children with special needs and their siblings to promote reading and learning among families. Contact us to learn more about the next scheduled event.
